Ana Luísa Carvalho is Assistant Researcher in the Macromolecular Crystallography Group, since November 2003. Her main research interest is the functional and structural characterisation of proteins from different biological systems. Ana Luísa is presently a member of the research teams of several on-going financed projects and Principal Investigator of one project financed by FCT-MEC. She co-supervises several post-graduate and under graduate students and is co-responsible for the organisation of post-graduate courses with regular editions. Ana Luísa Carvalho is presently member of the Scientific Council of FCT-UNL and of the Commission for Scientific Matters.

João Pedro Veiga is Assistant Professor at the Materials Science Department, FCT-UNL and Integrated Researcher at CENIMAT/I3N in the Structural Materials Group. His main research interest is based in a crystal chemistry approach to the study of ceramics, minerals and cultural materials using synchrotron radiation based X-ray absorption spectroscopies such as EXAFS and XANES.  Other X-ray techniques are also of interest such as laboratory and synchrotron radiation based X-ray fluorescence and X-ray diffraction. He is a researcher in several national and European projects and supervises several post-graduate students. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Master degree in Materials Engineering of FCT-UNL.
